The idea of creating sports club HARP belongs to Anatoliy Girshfeld, President of UPEC, who has been playing table tennis since student years and takes part in rating tournaments.

Anatoliy Girshfeld, President of UPEC: "Sport is the sphere of activity that helps a person develop more harmonically. It means not only health, but also the opportunity to overcome more easily those complications, which our difficult time makes face us. That’s why I like sport and enjoy it when I have free time. For example, in winter, I like going alpine skis. The most favorite kinds of sport are lawn tennis, basketball and table tennis. I have categories (lawn tennis and basketball), and I play table tennis at the level of Master of Sports candidate."

I think that this kind of sport has prospective in Ukraine. But it is necessary to support young people for them to play table tennis. That’s why, in 2004, on the basis of table tennis department of Kharkov regional college of physical culture and sport, we established sports club “HARP”. This club is the leading one in table tennis activities in Ukraine.”

Team Sports Club HARP, having name after trading mark of Kharkov Bearing Plant, is a constant participant and prize winner of Ukrainian Championship among teams of table tennis Super League. Sports Club HARP consists of several teams:

• women team playing in Ukrainian Super League;
• women team playing in the Major League of Ukrainian Championship;
• men junior team playing in the First League of Ukrainian Championship (14-16 years).

President of the sports club is Leonid Segal. He is a multiple champion of Ukraine and prize winner of international contests, table tennis winner among veterans of World Championship in 2006.
