Hockey club "Kharkov"

Hockey club "Kharkov" was founded in November, 2007 by UPEC under Federation of hockey in Kharkov region.

The project is aimed at creation of highly professional team of sportsmen presenting Kharkov in Major League of Ukrainian Championship and also organization and development of child-junior hockey schools in the region.

Anatoliy Girshfeld, President of UPEC: "Kharkov has good clubs in such kinds of sport as football, basketball, volleyball, lawn and table tennis. But we consider that our city should be presented in all leading kinds of sport. Now, hockey is on the decline, though it is traditionally one of the most popular games on the post-Soviet territory. Besides, we believe that development of hockey will be incentive for self-education of young people as this kind of sport disciplines, develops single-mindedness, courage. All these qualities are necessary for young people to make good position in the world."

The creators of the club are co-owners of UPEC and also chiefs of the enterprises that are in management of the Company.

Senior coach of the team is Evgeniy Gladchenko, distinguished coach of Ukraine; coaches are Vladimir Korobenko and Valeriy Plyashechnik. Majority of players are alumni from Kharkov Hockey School. President of Hockey Club “Kharkov” is Leonid Segal.

Leonid Segal: "For its future, the club defines ambitious goals. The main task is considered to be preparation of sportsmen for recovery professional hockey in Kharkov, preparation of sportsmen for national team One of the goals is also the successful games in the national hockey championship."
