HARP starts to promote its new development for railway transport to CIS market

JSC Kharkov Bearing Plant, one of the biggest CIS manufacturers of bearing products, which belongs to the Industrial Group UPEC, starts to promote to CIS market its new development: duplex bearing, so called “cylindrical cassette”, intended for railway transport.

At the end of January the possibilities of rolling stock modernization on the basis of CRU-duplex bearing were shown within the limits of meeting of Committee Council for railway transport, which gathered plenipotentiary specialists of rolling stock CIS railway administration.

More than 100 delegates from almost all Commonwealth countries, Baltic countries and Georgia took part in the Committee meeting which was held in Zheleznogorsk, Kursk region (Russia). More than 50 questions, concerning traffic safety, modernization and re-equipment as well as rolling stock maintenance were discussed on the meeting.

Moreover, the acquaintance with new development and technologies, oriented to railway transport were organized within the limits of the meeting: manufacturers and suppliers have shown their production to the participants of the meeting in the maintenance car shop Kursk.

The Industrial Group UPEC has shown its new development – CRU-duplex bearing with increased run between repairs. Within the limits of the presentation one car with installed set from 8 bearings was repaired.

Assembly was made on press, available at the majority of CIS car shops. Bearings replacement can be also carried out on the test bench for the mounting-dismounting of the axle-boxes with cassette bearings.

Director of IG UPEC Railway Division and participant of the meeting Vyacheslav Yurov informed: “demonstration has visually demonstrated that the application of HARP duplex bearing does not require special new equipment acquisition and installing”.

“The simplified mounting-dismounting of the axle-box, basically familiar bearing, which should not be selected by the clearance and filled by greasing, absence of necessity of scaled shop re-equipment – all these factors were highly appreciated by maintainers and provide great interest and positive evaluation to our demonstration from the side of the participants of the meeting”, - noted V. Yurov.

He informed that in the first quarter of the current year, according to the order of JSC RZHD president it was planned to carry out the repair of 1000 freight cars with the application of the given bearings. V. Yurov noted, that according to this order the under control running of the re-equipped cars would be organized, the result of this running would be summarized by RZHD in October, 2010. CRU-duplex bearing is the new development, in February 2009 inter-departmental acceptance committee signed acceptance certificate for duplex bearing prototypes. According to this certificate HARP got permission for the serial production of the given bearing. Certificate of the Certification Register on the Federal Railway Transport of Russia (RS FZHT) was received last March, whereupon the serial production of this type of product began. In June 2009 CRU-duplex was certified in UkrSEPRO system. In June the same product was approved and recommended for application by the scientific and technical council of JSC RZHD.

JSC Kharkov Bearing Plant (JSC HARP) based in 1947, specializes in production of ball bearings of common industrial appointment and roller bearings for railway transport. Plant is the leader in CIS on bearings manufacture for the agricultural machine-building enterprises. HARP output also uses in automotive, mining and electrical engineering industries, metallurgy. The established capacity — about 30 million bearings per year. Since 2000, quality management system that corresponds to the requirements of international standards ISO-9000 has been working at the enterprise. The net profit of the enterprise in 2008 was 465.3 million hrn. (in 2007 — UAH 311.5 million, in 2006 —UAH 229.7 million). HARP finished 2008 with negative financial result: the loss was UAH 6.5 million (In 2007 —UAH 4 million, in 2006 —UAH 13,6 million).
